The Sound of Seken: Where Jazz Evolves in Bali

Seken isn’t just another cocktail bar in Seminyak. It’s a space built to push the boundaries of jazz and live performance in Bali. Every week, the stage transforms into a playground for collaboration — where musicians explore modern interpretations of jazz through soul, improvisational soundscapes, and experimental beats.

Defining the Seken Sound

At its core, Seken’s music program is about evolution. The goal isn’t to recreate the golden era of jazz, but to show how jazz can exist today — current, inclusive, and alive. The sounds you’ll hear range from syncopated Afro-Latin grooves and freestyle improvisations to soulful ballads with electronic textures. It’s music that connects technical mastery with emotional honesty.

Every Wednesday and Friday, Seken presents curated live sets. See the weekly line ups on this link.

IMPROVE Jam Session happens every last Friday of the month, offering an open stage for musicians to collaborate spontaneously.

Why It Matters

Bali has a long relationship with music, but few places take the risk to re-imagine what jazz can be. Seken’s program reflects a new generation of musicians who treat improvisation as a shared language rather than a solo act. For guests, it means no two nights are the same — every session offers a different perspective on what “live jazz in Bali” can sound like.
