About Cepi Kusmiadi
Cepi Kusmiadi is an Indonesian musician, primarily known as a drummer and percussionist. Born in traditional musicians family. The Grandfather was the leader of Sundanese traditional music orchestra in West Java where was playing Kendang (Sundanesse traditional Drum from West Java Indonesia), Djembe, and Drum Kit.
During school years, decided to study western instruments, especially drums. Traditional roots and knowledge of western music. After moved to Bali on 2004, had played around Bali in most every music festivals, hotels and clubs, and do project with Asia-Australia Band and Music Groups.
Cepi is noted for playing the Kendang Sunda, a set of two-headed drums traditionally used in Sundanese gamelan orchestra.
Cepi joined the Julian Banks Group, based in Melbourne Australia (originally the Julian Banks Trio) after meeting them at the Ubud Village Jazz Festival in Bali in 2015, 2016, 2017. His addition of traditional Indonesian percussion, particularly the Kendang Sunda, brought a new sound to the group, which Julian Banks described as an eclectic and unique "Indie-Jazz" sound. Cepi is also listed as the percussionist for the group Dunia Ketiga, an acoustic/electric trio based in Bali, described as playing "World Music meets Indonesian Traditional Folk Song."
